BioTecMar – Biotechnological Exploitation of Marine Products

Common strategies with regards to marine by-products within the Atlantic Area remains less sophisticated when compared to areas such as Scandinavia, Asia and North America. BioTecMar was a project put together to supports the development of a supply-and-demand chain to produce valuable ingredients using underexploited marine products. BioTecMar analysed the blocking points for by-product use and studies the possible exploitation by value chains (by species, and by-product). The project established an Atlantic network with connections between scientists, marine resources providers, manufacturers and users, and supported SMEs within the Atlantic area to develop these biotechnologies.
