EMFF Operational Programme 2014-2020 Sustainable Aquaculture Scheme Capacity Building Upgrade

Bantry Marine Research Station Ltd. announced in August 2020, the completion of an investment project to upgrade its laboratory infrastructure with a total investment of €71,223. The project was part funded by the Irish Government and the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund under the Sustainable Aquaculture Development Scheme and was administered by Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM),Ireland's Seafood Development Agency.

"Thanks to the Aquaculture Capacity Building Scheme, Bantry Marine Research Station has brought its laboratory and experimental facilities up to world class standards. The upgrade has enabled the company deliver water chemistry analysis, seaweed bioactive extraction analysis and fish larval rearing. The funding has allowed BMRS to become a leading player in applied marine research focusing on novel products and processes.BMRS will continue its important undertakings in Climate Change research and amelioration strategies, as well as animal welfare initiatives ".
